Note to adopters: Lassie and Cleo and Rin Tin Tin and Toto don't show up in rescue. We don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog. We get the leftovers. Dogs that other people have incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, ineffectively "trained," and badly treated. Most Rescue dogs have had it. They've been pushed from one lousy situation to another. They've never had proper veterinary care, kind and consistent training, or sufficient company. They've lived outside, in a crate, or in the basement. They're scared, depressed and anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have given up. But we are Rescue and we don't give up. We never give up on a dog. We know that a dog is a living being, with a spirit and a heart and feelings. Our dogs are not commodities, things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next Westminster champion. So please, please don't come to rescue in the hopes of getting a "bargain," or indeed of "getting" anything. Come to Rescue to give, to love, to save a life -- and to mend your own spirit. For Rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. I can promise you this -- a rescue dog will make you a better person.

Going Home
By
Unknown

My family brought me home cradled in their arms
They cuddled me and smiled at me and said I was full of charm
They played with me and laughed with me and showered me with toys
I sure do love my family, especially the little girls and boys.

The children loved to feed me; they gave me special treats
They even let me sleep with them - all snuggled in the sheets.
I used to go for walks, often several times a day
They even fought to hold the leash, I'm very proud to say.

These are the things I'll not forget - a cherished memory
I now live in the shelter - without my family.
They used to laugh and praise me when I played with that old shoe
But I didn't know the difference between the old one and the new.

The kids and I would grab a rag, for hours we would tug
So I thought I did the right thing when I chewed the bedroom rug.
They said that I was out of control and would have to live outside
This I didn't understand, although I tried and tried.

The walks stopped, one by one; they said they hadn't time
I wish that I could change things; I wish I knew my crime.
My life became so lonely in the backyard, on a chain.
I barked and barked all day long to keep from going insane.

So they brought me to the shelter but were embarrassed to say why
They said I caused an allergy, and then they each kissed me goodbye.
If I'd only had some training as a little pup
I wouldn't have been so hard to handle when I was all grown up.

"You only have one day left",
I heard the worker say.
Does that mean I have a second chance?
Do I go home today?

A Mans Best Friend

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

Dogs in need

On this page are some of the dogs currently in need of loving forever homes. Before we allow anyone to adopt a Cane Corso or any other breed from our rescue, they must meet a certain criteria and will be expected to have an interview and their home will be vetted. We will also issue a contract to protect the welfare of the dog and expect all prospective new owners to abide fully by the contract. Every dog in our care will be vet checked, vaccinated, wormed & neutered or spayed before being re-homed. An experienced dog trainer will do a temperament evaluation and prospective owners will be invited to spend time with the dog so the rescue can assess how well the dogs bonds with the people and how the people take to the dog.
We will not place an adult Corso in a home with small children, unless we are fully aware of the background of the dog and happy that children have played an active part in the dogs previous home.
If you are considering re-homing one of the dogs in our care we would like to ask that you take the time to speak to people who know the breed and to be 100% sure that you can offer that dog the correct training and care.

Dino is so funny, he loves his play time. Still not happy about having a lead on and being held close to a human, but he does seem to like a tickle on his chest area. He does come up to us and take food from our hands he will now sit when asked to most of the time, he does sit and wait for his food.

This is Molly. She is a lovely Cane Corso girlie. She has shown no bad ways with the females that work with her but she can be aggressive towards some men. We are just waiting for that right home. She loves cuddles and being groomed and loves her walks, she is very active. Are you the right home for this girl? She has been with us for 2 years now....far too long!!!

Bouley playing... yes he was playing!
We still cant get to touch him but he comes up to me and nudges me with his nose
It's slow work but i am sure he will let me get to him one of these days. He will need a very patient home with someone who can commit a lot of time to him to bring him on more.

REHOMED!

Marnie, a female Cane Corso needs a new home asap. She has lived with another female whom she loved but this girl has been re-homed. I have been told that this Corso girl doesn't like other females or any small dogs?? She is 3 1/2 to 4 years old & what a beauty she is! UPDATE Marnie is now in a foster home & being assessed. Our initial opinion is that she is friendly, obedient, knows her basic commands & with a little socialisation we feel she will soon learn to get along with other dogs & learn the joys of play. This girl is going to be a joy to have around for some lucky family.

Keisha needs a loving home. She is in a foster home at the moment, she is good around children & other dogs. She will need a calm home & more training, she can be scared of new things............But she will make a lovely pet.

Kiki is 11 months old is up to date with her vaccinations, and will be spayed and microchipped soon, Kiki is very clean in the house and has shown no bad ways at all, no mess and no chewing. She has not had any lead training she is at the moment a bit of a steam train, but to excited to see all the new things in the outside world so it is not surprising how she is, the length of her nails shows she has not really been walked but these are about to be clipped, and we will work on her manners when being walked, when she see's another dog she goes straight into play bow, she is very playful and just wants to have fun. UPDATE Kiki has now been spayed & getting better on the lead all the time.

Milo is approx 2 years old, this poor boy is in a pound & running out of time fast, without help from experienced American Bulldog people it is felt that Milo will almost certainly have to be euthanized although he is being given as much time as possible in the hope of a real breakthrough. He eats well and is meticulously clean in his kennel and run (he doesn't lift his leg in his run but waits until being let out into the exercise compound). He has not been destructive in his kennel and virtually never barks. He appears wary of other dogs and does not look for confrontation if one approaches his kennel.  Milo needs to go into a very knowledgeable foster home as he has many problems & issues that need to be dealt with. Although he is a very sad, scared & growly boy Milo has never bitten whilst in care. UPDATE Milo is now safe in a foster home & being worked with.

Angus is a nine month old Red Bullmastiff, he gets on well with other dogs & is a friendly boy, he does have a slight impediment on one front leg, this probably happened when he was a pup. Although it does cause him to limp every now & then it does not stop him from running, playing with other dogs or going for his walks like any other dog. UPDATE Angus has been on kennel rest with only small amounts of play in the garden & there is now no sign of his limp.

Diesel is a young male DDB that has just come onto our books. He is around 2/3 years old, very large & strong, he is looking for a large breed experienced home & will need ongoing training. He is castrated & vaccinated, he is not cat tested. He could live with a female dog in the same home, but not with very young children, this is not because he is bad in any way, but because he is so very large! Home checks will need to be carried out on any prospective homes.

REHOMED!
Fudge
is a Bullmastiff female. Fudge is around 2 years old, a very sweet little girl that likes to play ball & loves cuddles, she will happily sit with her head in your lap or tucked under your arm forever. She is small, very gentle & loving. We believe she could be Chocolates mother (below) & has been used for breeding, both Fudge & Chocolate were thrown out of the back of a van, covered in fleas & very frightened when rescued. The sores from all the flea bites are now healing nicely & she has shown no bad ways to anyone she has met, she will be spayed before going to her new home, so if you could give this adorable little lady the loving home she deserves & so desperately craves please get in touch.

REHOMED!
Chocolate
is another Bullmastiff female, she is around 11 months old & could well be Fudge's (above) daughter & was also thrown from a van
, like Fudge her flea bite sores are healing & almost gone. This girl also has the sweetest, loving nature & loves everyone & everything, she is only a baby & just learning what it is to play. She loves to give kisses & is a very happy little girl with a calm easy going nature. We would love to see her go to a loving forever home where her personality can blossom. She will be spayed before rehoming so please get in touch if you would like more info on this delightful girl.

Mint is a 2 year old DDB x Neo boy, micro chipped & vaccinated. He is said to love all animals & adore children, great on & off the lead. He is in a foster home at the moment & being assessed.

Foster homes

Foster homes are very much needed to care for dogs in a home environment while their new homes and prospective owners are home checked. During this time the dog can be assessed and relevant information can be used to help decide on the most suitable placement. This information can also be passed on to their new owners to help them adjust and prepare for their new dog.
Fostering can be very satisfying as your experience, insight and input is important in finding the best home and family for the right dog.
If you would like to help by fostering for the Cane Corso UK and Molosser Rescue please email us & we will get back to you.
