Note to adopters: Lassie and Cleo and Rin Tin Tin and Toto don't show up in rescue. We don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog. We get the leftovers. Dogs that other people have incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, ineffectively "trained," and badly treated. Most Rescue dogs have had it. They've been pushed from one lousy situation to another. They've never had proper veterinary care, kind and consistent training, or sufficient company. They've lived outside, in a crate, or in the basement. They're scared, depressed and anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have given up. But we are Rescue and we don't give up. We never give up on a dog. We know that a dog is a living being, with a spirit and a heart and feelings. Our dogs are not commodities, things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as much love and care and respect as the next Westminster champion. So please, please don't come to rescue in the hopes of getting a "bargain," or indeed of "getting" anything. Come to Rescue to give, to love, to save a life -- and to mend your own spirit. For Rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. I can promise you this -- a rescue dog will make you a better person.

Going Home My family brought me home cradled in their arms The children loved to feed me; they gave me special treats These are the things I'll not forget - a cherished memory The kids and I would grab a rag, for hours we would tug The walks stopped, one by one; they said they hadn't time So they brought me to the shelter but were embarrassed to say why "You only have one day left", ~
The Old Ones by Unknown One by one they pass my cage, Too old, too worn, too broken, no way. Way past his prime he can't run and play, Then they shake their heads slowly and go on their way. A little old man, arthritic and sore, It seems I am not wanted anymore. I once had a home, I once had a bed, A place that was warm, and where I was fed. Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail, Who wants a dog so old and so frail? My family decided I didn't belong, I got in their way, my attitude was wrong. Whatever excuse they made in their head Can't justify how they left me for dead. Now I sit in this cage, where day after day, The younger dogs get adopted away. When I had almost come to the end of my rope, You saw my face and I finally had hope. You saw through the grey, and the legs bent with age, And felt I still had life beyond the cage. You took me home, gave me food and a bed, And shared your own pillow with my poor tired head. We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low, You love me so dearly and want me to know. I may have lived most of my life with another, But you outshine them with a love so much stronger. I promise to return all the love I can give, To You, my dear person, as long as I live. I may be with you for a week or for years, We will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears. And when the time comes that God deems I must leave, I know you will cry and your heart will grieve. And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new, My thoughts and my heart will still be with you. And I will brag to all who will hear, Of the person who made my last days so dear. ~ ![]() Foster homes Foster homes are very much needed to care for dogs in a home environment while their new homes and prospective owners are home checked. During this time the dog can be assessed and relevant information can be used to help decide on the most suitable placement. This information can also be passed on to their new owners to help them adjust and prepare for their new dog. |
Dogs in need On this page are some of the dogs currently in need of loving forever homes. Before we allow anyone to adopt a Cane Corso or any other breed from our rescue, they must meet a certain criteria and will be expected to have an interview and their home will be vetted. We will also issue a contract to protect the welfare of the dog and expect all prospective new owners to abide fully by the contract. We always ask for an adoption fee, this fee does vary depending on the dogs age & general health. All of this fee will go back into the rescue so that we can use it to help pay for neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, feed & the general day to day care of more dogs in need. Every dog in our care will be vet checked, vaccinated, wormed & neutered or spayed before being re-homed. An experienced dog trainer will do a temperament evaluation and prospective owners will be invited to spend time with the dog so the rescue can assess how well the dogs bonds with the people and how the people take to the dog. We will not place an adult Corso in a home with small children, unless we are fully aware of the background of the dog and happy that children have played an active part in the dog's previous home. If you are considering re-homing one of the dogs in our care we would like to ask that you take the time to speak to people who know the breed and to be 100% sure that you can offer that dog the correct training and care & of course please contact us. If you would like to apply to adopt one of the dogs in our care please Email Jackie- Rescue Co-ordinator
If you wish to contact us for any other reason please go to our contact page for more ways get in touch with one of our rescue representatives.

************************************************************ RESERVED! TURKISH Cane Corso x Neapolitan
This is the very handsome and wonderful Turkish he is an extremely large Cane Corso X Neapolitan Mastiff of 20 months of age, this boy is still very much like a puppy in his nature and up to mischief at every opportunity. He is fully house trained and responding very well to training Turkish is looking for a home with giant or large breed experience with no children, he has not lived with children in the past and because of his clumsy nature could knock a child over, come to that he could knock an adult over as well , you would have to be prepared to continue his training and socialisation, Turkish does like other dogs but will only be placed with a large female and the applicant must be prepared for a number of visits with the other dog before he could go home with them, he would also be happy being an only dog Turkish is learning to walk well on a lead it is only when he is first going out that he will pull with excitement but this is being worked on, you will need to be a firm but fair handler to get the best from him Turkish is castrated; micro chipped and will be up to date on his vaccinations before leaving for his new home
A home check will be done /contract will need to be signed.. **********************************

Dollar
Cane Corso - female - four years old (approx.)
Dollar came in to the centre as sadly her owner was moving and could not keep her. Dollar is a large and powerful girl who is unaware of her strength and when she runs at you for a cuddle could quite easily send you flying. There were hopes initially that she may be able to go back to her owner but sadly this did not happen and has only slowed up her re-homing process. When Dollar came to us she was quite wary of her new surroundings and still now can be quite vocal when strangers walk past her kennel. However with people she knows its a whole different story - forgetting her strength she will jump all over you and push you around. This is not aggressive at all and is done out of excitement but has caused a few bruised arms and legs. We have been teaching Dollar to have a little self control and this is now much better. Dollar is housetrained, travels well and can be left for a short amount of time. She is good with other dogs but in the rough way that Dollar knows how to play and so this could get her into trouble whilst out walking. Dollar has also previously lived with cats and so could be homed with bold cats that are used to dogs and other smaller animals should be in very secure enclosures. Dollar is a big lovable lump once she gets to know you but typical of her breed she can be quite aprehensive around strangers, because of this care should be taken when inviting new people into the home. Dollar thoroughly enjoys her walks and really loves a good game of fetch, she also loves a good cuddle once she knows you. Dollar is looking for an owner who has experience with the Cane Corso as a breed or failing that either the American Bulldog, Rottweiler or similar guarding breeds. Dollar requires an adult only household where she will have clear rules and guidelines set down for her. This gorgeous girl deserves to be in a loving home with an owner who can give her everything she needs. THIS GIRL IS STILL WAITING ! Location: SOUTH GODSTONE, Surrey
******************************************************* REHOMED ! JOSH CANE CORSO X STAFFORDSHIRE B.T. Gentle Josh
Gentle Josh is a Cane Corso cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier about 2 years old and is about the size of a labrador. He is a kind, affectionate dog who is currently in a foster home and proving to be well behaved and calm in the house. He is well mannered and doesn't jump up people. He loves to cuddle up against you. He does not suffer separation anxiety beyond the first few minutes once the foster has left the house, he doesn't bark or make a fuss as long as he can sleep in front of the fire and watch TV !!!! He travels well in the car. He is currently confused as he has been passed through numerous homes before coming to rescue and it is obvious that he needs training, although he will sit and give a paw. Positive reward based training will work best, he needs firm but kind leadership as he is showing signs of flinching against the hand and if there are raised voices. He will need a fair amount of exercise to keep his intelligent brain active. He is a loyal and steady companion and we are looking for a home as a pet and not a guard dog as he has no guarding instinct and he must be housed indoors as he suffers when it is cold. We do not know what he is like with children so confident teenagers OK. Gentle Josh has been neutered, treated for fleas and worms and microchipped.
This boy is up North in another rescue
